Our Favorite Artistic Music Videos: Sixpence None the Richer's 'Kiss Me'

Jul 21, 2025

Take a little trip to Paris, city of art!

When Nashville's Sixpence None the Richer released the infectiously catchy single 'Kiss Me' in 1998, it propelled the little known trio of singer Leigh Nash, guitarist/songwriter Matt Slocum and drummer Dale Baker to national stardom, reaching #2 on the Billboard 100 chart. Their dreamy cover of The La's 'There She Goes' the following year also cracked the Top 40.

For literature lovers, it's interesting to note that the band's name was inspired by a line in legendary 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' author C.S. Lewis's book 'Mere Christianity'. And indeed, they share a faith with the British literary icon.

After disbanding in 2004, Sixpence None the Richer reformed in 2007, and have been active ever since, even carrying out a successful 25th anniversary tour in 2024. But during the early stages of the 2020 pandemic lockdowns, we happened to rediscover the "Paris" video they filmed for 'Kiss Me', and found that it cheered us up quite a bit when travel was completely shut down - and we still give it a regular spin when we just need something a little "feel good".

A major reason people visit the City of Light, of course, is for its amazing museums - The Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, the Centre Pompidou - and their incredible art collections. But for us the video just so perfectly captures that certain 'je ne sais quoi' and 'art de vivre' of one of our favorite places in the world.

Enjoy!
